Why foreign productions call us

One producer. Two continents. Your pace.

01

One contract

Sign with a US company and pay in USD or EUR. In Europe your producer is an Italian citizen, so there are no visa or work-permit questions on the ground.

02

A producer's pace

We answer within 24 hours, in your time zone. You get location options and a cost estimate before your next call, and the same producer stays on the job from first call to delivery.

03

A director on the floor

Tommaso Cardile has directed for Gucci, Cartier, Loro Piana and Vogue Italia since 2003. When the brief changes on the day, there is someone on set who can make the creative call with you.

Labour for a 22-person commercial crew on one 10+1 hour day in Milan, including two hours of overtime for the technical crew. Equipment, locations, talent, travel and VAT are extra.

Working hours
The day

Technical crew work 8+1 hours (8 hours plus a 1-hour lunch). Production, direction and DoP work a flat 11+1. No shift goes past 11+1.

Overtime

The first two hours over the base day are simple overtime, about 1/6 of the day rate each. From the third hour, double. We budget a 10+1 day by default.

Continuous day

Calls between 10:00 and 15:30 run as a 7-hour continuous day with a snack break. Anything after that is double overtime.

Nights, Sundays, holidays

Night shifts pay about 35% more. Sundays and public holidays carry a 100% premium for most roles, 50% for DoP and set design.

Travel

Beyond 40 km, travel counts inside a 13-hour cap. Beyond 300 km, each travel leg adds 50% of the day rate. Mileage is €0.60/km.

Meals & cancellations

Without catering, crew get at least €20 for lunch and €40 for dinner. Cancelling within 72 hours of call can cost up to 100% of the agreed fee.

Rates and rules from the CPA–APMAL agreement for advertising productions in Lombardy (v1.3, August 2024), with day rates raised 5% to match ISTAT FOI inflation from August 2024 to August 2026 (+4.8%). The agreement's scheduled 2026 review may set new figures, and we update this table when it does. Rome and other regions vary. Indicative figures, excluding VAT. Your estimate is built for your brief.

Questions producers ask

FAQ

Production company or production service?

Both. Bring your own director and DP and we run the production in Italy or the US, or hire Tommaso to direct as well.

Do you work with agencies or brands directly?

Both. Most foreign jobs come through production companies and agencies, and we also work directly with brand in-house teams.

Can we use Italy’s tax credit?

Feature films, series and documentaries shot in Italy can apply for Italy’s 40% tax credit for foreign productions. We connect you with an Italian executive producer to file it.

When is the best season to shoot?

Italy works all year. Sicily and the south stay mild in winter, the Alps hold snow at altitude, and coast and villa locations should be booked early for May to September.

What do you need to start?

A board or treatment, shoot dates, number of shoot days and a budget range. That is enough for options and a first estimate.
