For its 2024 centenary, Loro Piana hosted the 8th Knit Design Award, themed ‘Fast Forward Heritage,’ inviting students from leading international design schools to reinterpret the Maison’s iconic yarns for the next hundred years. The winning project, ‘Cavalieri, A History of Innovation’ — by Pierre Sauvageot, Björn Backes and Professor François-Xavier Herody of École Duperré — fused the softness of cashmere with the strength of iron: a cashmere ‘armour’ honoring the past while pushing innovation forward.
